Bob was born in New York, New York, in 1948. He received his B.A. from the University of North Carolina in 1969, his M.A. in Ibero-American Studies from the University of Wisconsin in 1970, and his Juris Doctorate in 1973 from the University of North Carolina. He was admitted to the North Carolina Bar in 1973. In addition, Bob received his Master of Law (L.L.M.) from the University of Brussels, Brussels, Belgium, magna cum laude, in 1974.

Bob is a founding partner of the firm and a seasoned lawyer with more than 30 years experience in complex litigation in North Carolina. Currently, he focuses solely on nursing home litigation. He is recognized statewide by his colleagues as an outstanding litigation and trial attorney. He has been admitted to practice law before the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of North Carolina and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Bob has an “AV” rating with Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating an attorney can receive. This rating “shows that a lawyer has reached the height of professional excellence. He or she has usually practiced law for many years and is recognized for the highest levels of skill and integrity.”

He is fluent in Spanish, has published numerous legal articles about Latin American law, and has a special interest in promoting legal rights and awareness in the Latino/Hispanic community. He lived for a number of years in Latin America and still returns for visits several times a year.
