Project #U-3440
Type: Road widening
Affected County: Cabarrus
In an effort to relieve traffic congestion, Cabarrus County will soon begin widening NC 3 (Mooresville Road) between Kannapolis Parkway and Loop Road (SR 1691). The project, referred to by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) as U-3440, will extend the road to four lanes, including a median, sidewalks, and bike lanes.
Cabarrus County has already begun right of way acquisition. An estimated 125 properties will be affected by this project, with 36 houses/buildings and nine whole parcels being completely taken by NCDOT. Partial condemnations will include 50-70% takings, road frontage, and corners of parcels.
