N.C. 42 Buffalo Road Widening – Glen Laurel Road to Buffalo Road

Project #R-3825B
Type: Road Widening
Affected County: Johnston

The NCDOT is widening a 4 mile stretch of N.C. 42 between Glen Laurel Road (S.R. 1902) and Buffalo Road (S.R. 1003). The DOT projects that N.C. 42 will not accommodate future traffic volumes, making this section prone to a higher rate of congestion and traffic accidents.

This road-widening project, called R-3825B, will widen this stretch of N.C. 42 from two lanes to four lanes divided by a raised grass median. There will also be auxiliary turn lanes added at certain locations.
