Project R-5930
Type: Roadway construction
Affected County: Chatham
This project begins at U.S. 64 Bypass just north of Suttles Road and ends at the intersection of U.S. 15-501 near Russell Chapel Church Road. The 2.7 mile project will link to the existing Chatham Park Way (from U.S. 64 Business to U.S. 64 Bypass). It is intended to provide an alternate route for traffic traveling through downtown Pittsboro while continuing to support the economic development of the region. The roadway will be a four (4) lane divided roadway, with curb and gutter and sidewalks on both sides of the parkway. The project is expected to cost $18M, with $2.07M of that for right of way property acquisition. Right of way acquisition is expected to begin in the Spring of 2022.
