The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) has begun right of way acquisition in the development of R-2530B and B-4974 NC 24-27 projects in Stanly County.

R-2530B is a 5.5 miles widening and improvement project in Stanly County that runs from NC 740 in Albemarle to the Pee Dee River.  It then connects with project B-4974 on the Montgomery County line and extends east from the Pee Dee River.
