Project U-3334
Type: Road Extension
Affected County: Johnston
The Booker Dairy Road Extension project will aim to facilitate traffic flow around Smithfield and make it easier for motorists to get from the business district on Bright Leaf Blvd to the businesses on U.S. 70. This project will reroute the eastern end of Booker Dairy Road before intersecting with Bright Leaf Boulevard.
Once completed, this extension would add nearly two miles of new road to Booker Dairy Road and connect it to U.S. 70 further north than its current intersection. This is the second time that Booker Dairy Road has been extended, the first being in 2011. The NCDOT estimates this project will cost roughly $10 million to complete.
