The Brain Injury Association of North Carolina
Started in 1982 by family members of those who have suffered Traumatic Brain Injuries, the Brain Injury Association of North Carolina (BIANC) hopes to address a void in resources and support for those who are recovering from TBIs—including families and caregivers. The organization provides information on prevention, support, education, and advocacy services. Their work includes:

Thomas Henson—Past Chair of the Board of Directors for BIANC—still serves on the organization’s board. In 2012, Governor Perdue appointed him to the state’s Traumatic Brain Injury Advisory Council, which studies the needs of people with brain injuries. He is also a member of the Traumatic Brain Injury Litigation Group of the American Association for Justice.
