The Most Common Workplace Injuries in North Carolina

Whether you work outside or at a desk, we each face inherent risks of injury on the job each day. Data indicates that some accidents occur more frequently than others, and certain workers may be at a greater risk of suffering some of the most common workplace injuries.

Slip and fall accidents are by far the most common accident that results in North Carolina workers being seriously injured. Reports from the North Carolina Department of Labor show that so far this year, there have been a total of 13 fatal slip and fall accidents this year, accounting for almost one-third of all workplace deaths in the state. This is also a slight increase from the 11 fatal slip and fall accidents that were reported in 2014 and the 8 incidents that were reported in 2013.

White and Hispanic males seem to be at an elevated risk of suffering an on-the-job injury in North Carolina. Every fatal workplace accident that has occurred in our state during 2015 has involved a male victim. A total of 45 percent of those victims were white, while another 38 percent were Hispanic.
