North Carolina Land Condemnation Lawyers Holding Greenville Southwest Bypass Property Owners Meeting

By law, the state and federal government are permitted to acquire private property from owners if the land is being used as part of a project that provides a benefit to the community, such as the construction of a road or highway; however, landowners have a right to be fairly compensated for their property and unfortunately, the legislation that outlines these rights can be complex and difficult to interpret.

That’s why it’s so important for landowners to become educated about their rights. The North Carolina land condemnation lawyers with HensonFuerst are looking to help explain these rights to those in communities in and around Greenville, North Carolina, who may be affected by the Greenville Southwest Bypass project.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation has provided plans that show the 12.4-mile project will span from Memorial Drive (NC 11) to the intersection of Forlines Road and U.S. 264 in Pitt County. The project could require hundreds of acres of property to complete.

If your property is potentially going to be affected by this project, we encourage you to come to our Greenville Southwest Bypass Property Owners Meeting that is being held next Wednesday, April 1. The two-hour event will take place at the Sheppard Memorial Building located at 530 Evans Street beginning at 6 P.M.

During the meeting, we will discuss what areas could potentially be affected by land condemnation claims, as well as how the processing of these claims works. We will also talk about recent court rulings that could affect the compensation you’re entitled to receive for your property.

At HensonFuerst, our primary goal is to protect the rights of victims, which is why we’re looking forward to being able to reach a large group of citizens who, through no fault of their own, are being affected by land claims. We hope to see and speak with you next week!
