Riders Skills Day Hopes to Reduce Number of North Carolina Motorcycle Accidents

November 21, 2013

Motorcyclists in North Carolina face a serious risk of injury or death every time they take to the road. In fact, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has reported a steady increase in the number of motorcycle fatalities the state has seen over the last several years, with 62 more deaths being recorded in 2012 than in 2011.

The North Carolina Motorcycle Accident Lawyers with HensonFuerst explain that several organizations in Fayetteville, North Carolina, recently conducted a program to help reduce these numbers in the future. On Friday, November 8, the Fayetteville Police Department partnered with Bike Safe North Carolina to hold “Riders Skills Day”.

The Fayetteville Observer reports the program consisted of a classroom learning session followed by several hands-on rides in the area to practice the skills that were discussed.  Participants of the free program first watched videos and listened to speakers talk about actions that can be taken to stay safe on the road. Riders then geared up and took to the streets of the city to practice safe acceleration, braking, and passing through intersections. The ride later continued near Spring Lake, where participants practiced navigating curves in the road.

HensonFuerst’s team of North Carolina Personal Injury Lawyers recognizes the risks of riding a motorcycle and encourages all motorcyclists, of all skill levels, to participate in safety courses like the one that was recently offered.
