State cracks down on Raleigh nursing home abuse

March 10, 2009

The News and Observer reported that a newly appointed head of the Department of Health and Human Services has become stricter on punishment for Raleigh nursing home abuse.

Since assuming the role, he has started putting people involved in North Carolina nursing home abuse cases on administrative leave until situations are investigated.

Workers, however, feel that this aggressive action is too strong. If they’re caring for a violent patient, they have to do what they can to control the patient without seeming abusive.

The secretary stated that his intention is to prevent cases of Raleigh nursing home neglect and abuse so that patients can receive the care they deserve.
