North Carolina Foodborne Illness Lawyers Examine Sickness Associated With Yogurt Recall

September 12, 2013

The North Carolina Foodborne Illness Lawyers with HensonFuerst explain that companies that manufacture food products have a responsibility to ensure the safety and purity of their items before they are put on the market. If a company fails to make such assurances, they could be deemed liable for any harm their product causes to consumers.

So far, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has received a total of 89 reports of such negligence after consumers were sickened by eating Greek yogurt manufactured by Chobani, Inc., that contained mold.

An FDA Press Release responded to the claims of contamination by initiating a voluntary recall of more than 35 varieties of the company’s yogurt products. Chobani has traced the contamination to a facility in Twin Falls, Idaho, and action has been taken to resolve the issue.

Distributors and consumers in possession of the affected products have been instructed to dispose of the yogurt immediately and contact the company for a replacement or refund. Anyone who experiences adverse health events related to the contaminated yogurt should report the incident to the FDA.

HensonFuerst’s team of North Carolina Personal Injury Lawyers also urge anyone who has become ill following the consumption of contaminated food to discuss their legal options with a reputable attorney and ensure their rights are protected.
