Despite President Biden signing the Camp Lejeune Act into law almost a year ago, tens of thousands of veterans nationwide impacted by the contaminated water supply at Camp Lejeune are still waiting for their claims to move forward.

“The severity of these diseases and these medical conditions means that time is not on our client’s side. They are fighting time just like they’re fighting to get their day in court and fair compensation for what they’ve been through. And that’s what this is all about,” he told the local news outlet.
According to Thomas, he and his clients did everything they had to do to receive compensation from the U.S. government for their illnesses and health complications from repeated exposure to toxic chemicals and carcinogens in the military base water supply through the claims process. Still, they and their families await answers.
“So, these veterans have done their thing. They and their family members have done their jobs and now it’s the court’s job and especially the Department of Justice and the Navy’s job … I think Congress, I would assume, knew or at least they assumed that the Navy would have the mechanism in place to get these cases resolved at the administrative level, rather than having to go through a formal litigation process.”
