North Carolina Defective Product Lawsuit Filed in Connection With Accidental Shooting

December 12, 2013

Manufacturers of products have a responsibility to ensure the safety of the items they put on the market for consumers to purchase. The North Carolina Defective Product Attorneys with HensonFuerst Injury Lawyers explain any failure to do so, which results in an injury or death, could result in the company facing civil litigation filed by the victim or their family in an attempt to receive compensation for damages.

An article from the Claims Journal states that such a case was filed after a 16-year-old was struck and killed by a stray bullet from a neighbor’s gun. Reports indicate the victim was standing in the front yard of a Charlotte, North Carolina, home with his grandmother and a friend. At the same time, a neighbor was cleaning a Remington Model 700 rifle in his home when the firearm suddenly went off by accident. The bullet exited the home, striking all three of the individuals in the neighboring yard on its way down.

The teen died as a result of injuries sustained in the incident. His family later filed suit against the gun’s manufacturer, claiming the company was responsible for the misfiring weapon and was negligent in manufacturing it.

HensonFuerst and their team of North Carolina Personal Injury Lawyers recognize the difficulties that can accompany the loss of a loved one due to another person’s negligence. That is why the firm hopes a decision in the case brings some closure to the family of the victim.
