I-95 Widening in Lumberton

The North Carolina Department of Transportation is planning to widen almost nine miles of I-95 in Lumberton. The project stretches from mile marker 13 (I-74) to just south of exit 22. The project proposes to improve three interchanges (exits 17, 19 and 20) with new bridges and ramps to modern design standards.
Construction is set to begin in 2022 with a completion date in 2026. The entire project is projected to cost $430.3 million.
