Type: Road Widening
Affected Counties: Burke, Caldwell, Catawba
Extending 13.9 miles – from just north of U.S. 70 in Hickory to Southwest Boulevard in Lenoir – the proposed project crosses through five municipalities– Hickory, Granite Falls, Sawmills, Hudson and Lenoir – and three counties –Catawba, Burke and Caldwell. The project is broken into 4 sections- A, B, C and CA. Section A runs from US 70 to US 321A. Section CA runs covers US 321/Mount Herman Road Intersection. Sections A and CA is currently funded and right of way acquisition is expected to begin in 2018. Sections B and C are currently unfunded. Construction of the project is scheduled to begin in 2020.
